SENDING US SELF-CONTAINED EPS FILES
We prefer PDF files, but for those of you who know how to make self-contained
.eps files we can accept them. A fail-safe way would be to import your .eps file into Photoshop and save a version of the ad as a .tif file (CMYK or grayscale as appropriate). Include both the .eps and the .tif versions.
CROP MARKS IN ADS
Crop marks, etc., are only needed for full-page ads. Any ad less than a full-page does not need crop marks. Please size the ad properly in your design software, AND distill it to PDF to the size the ad was created.
FOR COMPUTER AD FILES
Adobe Postscript type I fonts are highly recommended.
Truetype fonts should be avoided.
PAGEMAKER
We strongly advise that you output (print/send)
your final document (ad) to a PS file from within Pagemaker, and distill
that PS (postscript) file into a PDF file using our Job Options Settings in Acrobat
Distiller.
CORELDRAW 10, 11, & 12
The Coreldraw built-in .pdf converstion utility
works but may cause problems, particularly if your ad is very complex.
What really works well in Coreldraw is to "group" your final
ad from within Coreldraw, and export it as a self-contained. eps file. Import that into Photoshop and convert it to CMYK or grayscale .tif file.
USING MICROSOFT WORD TO MAKE A SIMPLE B&W AD
You can make simple black & white so-called "camera ready" laser printed ads in Microsoft Word (or any of the above page layout software) and send them to us regular mail. Click here for helpful hints.
SENDING
YOUR AD
If your ad isn't too large in data size you can email the PDF. I'd refer that .eps and .teif files be put on a CD or zip disk and mailed. Please use a Windows formatted zip disk (and we can’t
guarantee it’s return).
Smaller B&W type ads can be emailed as an attachment
to advertising@dornpub.com.
All large CMYK ads must be put on a CDR disk. Please do not email CMYK ads larger than 4 megabytes unless it is needed as a last minute correction. A color print with any color ad is required.
WHAT SHOULD YOU SEND US ON CDR
Ideally we would like original file (Quark, Pagemaker,
etc.), the PS (postscript file), and the .pdf file. Please do not Zip or Stuff your files on the CDR, keep them raw native
files. Again, if your ad is a CMYK ad we will need a high quality color print,
Iris, or equalent. If your ad is a B&W ad, a simple 600 d.p.i. laser print
on quality 24lb 90 brightness laser paper is fine.
IF WE MAKE YOUR B&W AD FOR YOU
We will make your B&W ad for a one-time fee of $35
(includes photo scans, design and layout, and PDF proof sent by email).
Save time, energy, hassles, and money by letting us make your ad.

If you need Adobe Acrobat Reader for reading .pdf
files click here.
We recommend the new Acrobat 6.0.
