Sonata For Tenor Sax & Piano
Masterclass/Play-Along CD
by Timothy Roberts
|
Welcome to this Saxophone Journal masterclass with CD accompaniment series. This is Timothy Roberts, and in this issue we will be working with Walter Hartley’s Sonata for Tenor Saxophone and Piano.
Walter Hartley is one of the most prolific composers of saxophone music ever. With more than 140 saxophone works written since his Suite for Five Winds was first published in 1951, Mr. Hartley has done more than perhaps any other American composer to further the development of the saxophone repertoire. Hartley currently holds the title of Professor Emeritus (Composition) at Fredonia State University of New York.
