Darryl Brenzel Quartet
Play-Along CD
After hearing my CD Pentasphere the wonderful people at Dorn Publications, Inc., were kind enough to extend an invitation to me to do this play-along and I was very happy to put it together. That particular CD has been described as “post-modern bop” and “straight ahead swing with a post-modern sensibility.” I feel that is an accurate description of the music presented on that recording. For this project however, I wanted to present something that covered more of what my musical personality encompasses. I wanted to cover a broader spectrum. There’s nothing like playing over some killer changes with a really swinging rhythm section behind you. But I’ll be quick to admit that I also like playing some music that has the kind of groove that makes you want to shake your tail feathers. So I tried to cover more bases here. I’m confident you’ll dig it. I couldn’t have asked for more from my rhythm section as they take care of business in every style.
